The final third will demonstrate the skills possessed by TLs. The aim is to raise the awareness of the school leaders that when planning, the TL should be considered as part of the team due to the nature of their specialised knowledge and skills.
As a result of reading this article the school leaders/principals will
have increased awareness of the value of the teacher librarian as a leader in developing staff, particularly in the use of wiki’s as a collaborative learning tool.
Deslie's very rough draft of the content for each slide
Slide 11 – TL has the qualities of a leader, facilitate change, strong interpersonal skills (and more to come to reflect what has been said in the first section about leadership- may be presented as a table)
Slide 12 – TL can develop staff because they are on the ground, at the coal face, has knowledge of curriculum and mastery of skills in information and technology, understands the school culture, is collaborative and responsive, a good communicator, has developed trust relationships, adept at aligning technology for the learning needs of the school.
Slide 13 – A vector diagram that summarises the TL as having all the leadership qualities mentioned in section 1 and able to apply these to developing the use of wikis as a collaboratie tool with staff and students (include characteristics of wikis mentioned in section2), resulting in shared planning, shared learning, increased student engagement and constructivist learning
Slide 14 – Conclusion – TLs have the leadership qualities and expertise to resource staff and students to create dynamic learning communities . TLs are key part of a solution. (Some sort of diagram with a key?) TLs play a critical role in moving the school to 21c learning. Administrators have the responsibility toempower TLs to do this (Lamb & Johnson, 2008)
